A new turbo is the right call in a handful of situations and a reconditioned one is the better buy in most others. Where a vehicle is still under manufacturer warranty, a new OEM unit keeps that cover intact. Where the original has broken up and there is no core left to exchange, new is the only route.
On newer engines, reconditioned stock has not always built up yet, so new is often the quicker option as well. If a reconditioned turbo would serve you better, we will say so rather than sell you the dearer part.
